Meet Your Eye Care Team

Dr. David Wichnoski has lived in Charlotte most of his life. He attended local schools and received his B.S. degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.

After graduating from the Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Wichnoski performed residency training at WJB Dorn Veterans Hospital in Columbia, SC. This multidisciplinary approach to eye care exposed him to many other areas of medicine and has prepared him well to become your primary care eye doctor.

After completing his residency training in 1997, Dr. Wichnoski started Spectrum Eye Care the same year. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the NC State Optometric Society.

Dr. Megan Price Osborne joined Spectrum Eye Care in 2008. She received her Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus University) and was chosen to pursue a residency specializing in ocular disease at Seidenberg-Protzko Eye Associates, in Bel Air, Maryland.

Dr. Osborne's training and experience have prepared her well for the challenges of primary eye care and the use of technology in the diagnosis and management of eye disease. While practicing in the Charlotte area, she has thoroughly enjoyed providing specialized eye care as well as continuing to remain well versed in new technology and procedures.

Dr. Osborne is a member of the American Optometric Association and the NC State Optometric Society.

Dr. Meredith Hackley, an original Charlottean, graduated as a student-athlete from the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecock Volleyball! She then headed to the Midwest to earn her Doctorate of Optometry at The Indiana University School of Optometry.

She completed specialized externships focused in specialty contact lens and pre and post-operative care, with one of her favorites being ocular disease at the Quantico Naval Health Clinic. Today, Dr. Hackley practices with over 8 years of experience, 6 being with Spectrum Eye Care.

As a practitioner, Dr. Hackley commits herself to a patient focused approach. She takes time to listen and understand the individual needs of each patient to ensure their best vision and ocular health outcomes. She believes that the best results come from a strong patient-doctor relationship.

Outside of the office, Dr. Hackley enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. They love sports, fitness, concerts, time outside, and of course, cheering on their Gamecocks!

Dr. Boldis joins Spectrum Eye Care with more than 10 years of optometric experience. She has provided care in Charlotte Metro since 2017. Dr. Boldis graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Doctor of Optometry and dual Bachelor of Science Degrees.

As part of her externships Dr. Boldis conducted her rotations at the Gainesville VA, Eye Centers of South Florida, in specialty contact lens and was selected for the advanced glaucoma and diabetes clinics.

Dr. Boldis is an approachable, patient focused optometist committed to taking her time with each patient. She provides personalized care while ensuring patients leave with an improved appreciation and better understanding of their overall eye health. She is passionate about eye care innovation as well as health, wellness and nutrition.

She was born in Europe and grew up in sunny South Florida. She and her husband relocated to the greater Charlotte area in 2017 which has quickly become their home. In her spare time, she and her husband are fitness and nutrition advocates who enjoy traveling, great food, sports, and most importantly spending time with their daughter.

Dr. Veronica Schuver is a dedicated optometrist from the snowy small town of Lakewood, NY. She earned her doctorate from The Ohio State University. During her externships, she served veterans at the New Orleans VA hospital. In Athens, Georgia, she gained extensive experience in ocular disease, low vision, and specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Schuver has been recognized for her work with multiple awards, including the Excellence in Low Vision Award in 2021. She is an active community member and leader, with a history of serving on state and national optometric leadership boards, such as the American Optometric Association. She was awarded Ohio Optometric Association's Leader of the Year in 2020.

Dr. Schuver values making each eye exam personalized and advocating for her patients. She takes time to educate patients on vision and eye health and will go out of her way to make sure individual needs are met. She considers herself a lifelong scholar and innovator, offering the very best in eye care.

In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors, travel, cook, and try out local restaurants!

Dr. Ryan Wirkus was born and raised in Concord, North Carolina. He became interested in Optometry while working at a practice during his undergraduate years at North Carolina State University. From there, Dr. Wirkus decided to pursue a career in optometry and attended graduate school at University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) College of Optometry.

Dr. Wirkus externships included Memphis VA Hospital and the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center where he gained valuable training in the treatment of ocular disease, including glaucoma and diabetes.

Dr. Wirkus has practiced in the Charlotte area since 2018. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the NC State Optometric Society.

In his free time, he enjoys cheering on the Panthers and Hornets, golfing, running, and traveling with his wife.

Dr. Meagan Embrey is a dedicated optometrist originally from Dunn, NC, who earned a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Following this achievement, Dr. Embrey completed a one-year residency at the Salisbury VA Hospital, specializing in ocular disease.

Joining Spectrum Eye Care in 2014, Dr. Embrey brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the practice. As a Certified Health Coach, a holistic approach to health is at the core of Dr. Embrey's philosophy.

Following this certification in 2020, Dr. Embrey continued to pursue her passion going on to complete a Hormone Health certification and the Personalized Nutrition Practitioner program. Leading the charge with the Ocular Wellness Program, she helps her patients establish a strong connection between ocular health and overall well-being.

Outside the professional realm, Dr. Embrey is a Level 2 CrossFit trainer and fitness is a top priority for her. She also finds joy in outdoor adventures, particularly retreating to the beach whenever possible, culinary pursuits, and cherished moments with her husband living and fulfilling life to its fullest.

Dr. Embrey looks forward to continuing to serve the community at Spectrum Eye Care, fostering ocular health and holistic well-being for all.
